Revival Is Here: What to Expect in a Holy Spirit Led Church

6 min read

I am Pastor Clark Ortiz, Lead Pastor of Center Church in Pharr, Texas. For more than 30 years, our church family has served this community by teaching God’s Word, leading people into worship, and walking with families through every season of life.

Now, we are preparing for Faith Alive Revival, beginning Wednesday, September 2, 2026. This gathering is an opportunity for you to encounter God, strengthen your faith, and discover what it means to live with an unshakable confidence in Jesus Christ.

Revival is not simply a series of church services. Revival is a move of God’s Spirit that awakens hearts, renews faith, restores families, and sends believers into the community with fresh hope.

What Is Revival?

Biblical revival is spiritual awakening. It is God renewing His people and drawing them back to wholehearted devotion to Jesus.

Psalm 85:6 asks, “Will You not revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You?” This prayer expresses the heart of revival: we ask God to breathe fresh life into our relationship with Him.

Revival brings:

  • A renewed hunger for God’s Word

  • A deeper desire to pray and worship

  • Conviction that leads to genuine repentance

  • Freedom from spiritual apathy and compromise

  • Courage to share the gospel

  • Healing in relationships and families

  • Fresh strength to face life’s challenges

  • A renewed passion for serving others

Revival begins in the heart, but it never stays there. When God changes you, your family feels the impact. When families are strengthened, the community becomes stronger. When a church is filled with the Holy Spirit, hope reaches beyond the church building.

What Does a Holy Spirit Led Church Look Like?

A Holy Spirit led church is not defined by excitement alone. It is defined by a clear focus on Jesus, faithfulness to Scripture, genuine love, and obedience to the Spirit of God.

Jesus said, “When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth” (John 16:13). The Holy Spirit always leads us toward truth, holiness, love, and a deeper relationship with Christ.

At Center Church, we believe the Holy Spirit leads us in several important ways.

1. The Holy Spirit Leads Us to Jesus

The Holy Spirit does not draw attention away from Jesus. He glorifies Christ and helps us understand who Jesus is and what He has done for us.

A Spirit-led church points people to the cross, the resurrection, the grace of God, and the hope we have through faith. Our worship, teaching, prayer, and ministry all have one central purpose: helping you know Jesus and follow Him faithfully.

2. The Holy Spirit Leads Us Through God’s Word

Revival is never separated from the Bible. The Spirit who inspired Scripture also helps us understand and apply it.

At Center Church, biblical teaching is central to our ministry. We believe God’s Word speaks directly to real-life challenges, including fear, addiction, discouragement, family conflict, temptation, and spiritual bondage.

Second Timothy 3:16–17 teaches that Scripture equips us for every good work. God’s Word corrects us, strengthens us, and gives us practical wisdom for everyday living.

3. The Holy Spirit Leads Us Into Prayer

Prayer is not a religious formality. Prayer is how we partner with God, surrender our burdens, and seek His direction.

The early church experienced spiritual power as believers prayed together. Acts 4:31 says that after they prayed, “the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.”

That same God is present and active today. When you pray, you are not speaking into an empty room. You are coming before a living God who hears, responds, comforts, and transforms.

4. The Holy Spirit Creates a Loving Family

A Holy Spirit led church is marked by love and unity. First Corinthians 12 describes the church as one body with many members. We need one another, and we grow stronger when we walk together.

Center Church is committed to family ministry because God cares about your home. Whether you are raising children, caring for aging parents, rebuilding a marriage, or walking through a difficult season alone, you do not have to face life without support.

Revival brings families back to the table, back to prayer, back to forgiveness, and back to the purpose God has given them.

What Can You Expect During Faith Alive Revival?

Faith Alive Revival is centered on the theme “Building Unshakable Faith for Everyday Living.” Romans 1:17 declares, “The just shall live by faith.”

You can expect powerful biblical teaching, heartfelt worship, prayer, and ministry designed to help you establish and grow your faith. You will have an opportunity to seek God for spiritual renewal, healing, freedom, and breakthrough.

However, revival is not about attending a meeting and returning to life unchanged. Revival invites you to respond to God.

You may experience:

Revival Changes More Than Sunday

True revival affects the way you live on Monday morning.

It changes how you respond when your family is under pressure. It changes how you handle conflict at work. It changes what you watch, say, pursue, and prioritize. It changes the way you treat your neighbors and serve your community.

Galatians 5:22–23 describes the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These qualities are evidence of the Spirit’s work in your life.

Revival does not merely produce a powerful moment. It produces a changed life.

How You Can Prepare Your Heart for Revival

You do not need to impress God before coming to revival. You can come exactly as you are. Still, you can prepare your heart to receive what God wants to do.

Pray honestly

Tell God where you are spiritually. Ask Him to renew your hunger, expose what is holding you back, and give you a willing heart.

You can pray:

“Holy Spirit, search my heart and lead me into truth. Renew my love for Jesus. Break every chain that keeps me from walking in freedom. Strengthen my faith and make me a blessing to my family and community. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Bring your family

Revival is for every generation. Bring your spouse, children, parents, friends, and neighbors. Give your family the opportunity to worship together and hear God’s Word together.

Come with expectation and surrender

Expect God to speak, but surrender your agenda. Revival is not about demanding a particular experience. It is about giving God permission to transform every part of your life.

Open your Bible

Read Acts 2, Psalm 85, Romans 1:16–17, Galatians 5:16–25, and Ephesians 5:18. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand how these passages apply to your life today.

Continue after the event

Do not allow revival to end when the meetings conclude. Continue in prayer, Scripture, worship, fellowship, and service. Spiritual renewal becomes lasting transformation when you practice daily obedience.
