Let’s talk about tithes and offerings.

How many of you are happy to be givers? You should be happy to be a giver—because if you have something to give, that means God has already blessed you with something to receive. Giving begins with God’s generosity. Without His provision, we would have nothing to return to Him.
That’s why the Lord calls us to give tithe and offerings. Scripture teaches:
Simply put—if God blesses you with a harvest of 10, you bring 1. That’s the tithe.
Tithing is not just an obligation—it’s an act of worship, an expression of love, and a demonstration of obedience.
The Alabaster Box
This principle is beautifully illustrated in the story of the woman with the alabaster box.
Matthew 26 tells us:
“When Jesus was in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, a woman came to Him having an alabaster flask of very costly fragrant oil, and she poured it on His head as He sat at the table. But when His disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, ‘Why this waste?’”
To the critics, her act of worship looked wasteful. But to Jesus, it was precious. He said, “Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a good work for Me… wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her.”
Two thousand years later, we’re still talking about it. That’s the power of giving. It builds memorials before God that outlast your lifetime.
Giving Builds for the Future
When you give, you’re not only blessing God’s house—you’re also depositing into the future. Your gifts prepare pulpits for the next generation, create spaces for young people to discover their calling, and establish a legacy that keeps speaking long after you’re gone.
I think of my own father, who went home to be with the Lord 25 years ago. The works he built—television stations, ministries, missions—are still reaching souls today. Every time someone comes to Christ through those works, it adds to his eternal reward. That’s the kind of legacy giving creates!
Three Truths About Giving
God has blessed you so that you CAN give.
Your giving deposits into the future.
Even after you’re gone, your giving still speaks.
When you sow in faith—whether it’s your tithe, your offering, or your sacrifice—it multiplies. The Bible says these blessings are pressed down, shaken together, and running over.
A Call to Worship Through Giving
So when we give, let’s give with joy. Let’s give with the same spirit as the woman with the alabaster box—not caring what the critics say, but honoring Jesus with our best.
Because giving is worship, giving is legacy. giving is faith in action.
God promises in Malachi 3:10—“Test Me now in this… if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.”

Love these points but also remember a crucial point. "Tithing prevents the enemy from devouring you," which is based out of Malachi 3, where God promises to protect those who are faithful with their tithes and offerings. I know the many times I have faced financial struggles, but I alwasy remember God coming through for me and my family. I totally stand on the fact that because we have been faithful in our tithes, God has put a hedge around us and protected us.
